The grid and the explanation of LoShu
According to legend, a mythical turtle emerged from the Yellow River with a grid of numbers on its shell. The numbers on the grid added up to 15 in every row, column, and diagonal, creating a magic square.
About 4,500 years ago, King Fu’Xi of Xia dynasty of ancient China, saw an ancient turtle with horns on its head and spikes on its four feet and tail coming out of the River Lo, a tributary of the Yellow River in North of ancient China, with dot markings on its back. King Fu’Xi was able to decipher the dots and put the dots into numerals from 1 to 9, and then put the 9 numbers in a square grid. He called the 9-numbers grid, the Lo’Shu Grid with the Chinese name “The Classic from the River Lo”.
In subsequent eras, other Taoist and wise masters were able to apply the ‘9-figures’ to evaluate the hidden capacities and shortcomings of individuals based on their lunar birth chart numbers.
